As part of the annually held state competition entitled “Our village of tomorrow” (“Unser Dorf hat Zukunft”), a multipurpose hall was to be developed in the direct vicinity of the school and sports grounds in the village of Linden-Neusen, and was to be presented as a new social-cultural centre with a commercial and residential unit.
The undeveloped area allotted by the community for the project borders directly with the school playground belonging to Linden-Neusen primary school. The concept behind the multipurpose hall initiative project envisages a reduced, monolithic building structure which fits harmoniously with the surrounding architecture. Its form and materiality make it, however, a focal point for local residents. The transparent ground floor includes event rooms in addition to a small gastronomy unit, while the top floor comprises seminar and multipurpose rooms, as well as the desired caretaker residence.
