Implementation planning and project management of the trade fair appearance of Covestro AG at the world’s largest plastics trade fair K 2019 in Düsseldorf.

With the brand promise: “Pushing Boundaries” Covestro AG presented itself to the public with a 1200 m² stand. The design competition, which was held for the second time, was, after 2016, once again won by the Cologne agency Uniplan.

With sustainability as a central theme in this year’s trade fair presentation, the high, colour-transparent, curved walls, that were developed in 2016 and made of Makrolon, a polycarbonate and Covestro product, returned as an eye-catcher.

For decades, smd+ has been entrusted with the implementation of complex trade fair appearances for Bayer MaterialScience AG and, since 2014, Covestro AG, and is responsible for project management and engineering of the exhibition architecture.

A particular challenge of the 2019 appearance was, with regard to the topic of sustainability, the reuse of as many elements as possible from the 2016 appearance, and to implement this in such a way that visitors could be offered a new experience from the exhibition stand.

The 48 m long 360° LED wall was, compared to 2016, brought down to the visitor level and offered, in combination with the newly designed Sample Parcours and Covestro Arena, a dynamic and multimedia exhibition experience.

In November 2020 the Covestro Fair Stand K 2019 won the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design in the Fair Stands category.
