Development of a design concept in cooperation with Messe Düsseldorf for the appearance of the federal participations in the biannual, largest fashion fair in Eastern Europe: the CPM in Moscow.
The CPM is one of the most important and successful fashion fairs in Eastern Europe. It serves the middle and upper market segment and exhibits 1600 collections from 34 countries on 5,800 sqm.
The fair takes place twice a year to present the spring/summer and autumn/winter collections and is accompanied by numerous fashion shows and seminars.


The presentation of the federal participations, which covers about 4000 sqm, requires a clear design line which, in addition to a uniform appearance, not only offers the exhibitors freedom for individual designs but also conveys a friendly, modern but also a little winking German branding.
The successful design concept, which was already developed by smd+ for the 30th CPM in 2018, is therefore based on a straightforward, almost sober formal language and architecture in a reduced colour scheme. Functional black and white contrasts harmonise with warm metal tones in copper and silver. Contemporary steel frame structures, noble materials such as satinised Plexiglas contrast with lavishly upholstered, velvety surfaces and create a bridge between modernity and opulence, between objectivity and emotion.
The concept culminates in the 105 square metre information stand which, with its Bauhaus-inspired architecture, has a highly emotional core and thus wants to be more than just a sober meeting place. Rather, a living room atmosphere awaits the visitor and invites him to stay and have good conversations. Changing motifs such as oversized floral patterns, flowing forms, soft materials create a lush world, an almost textile-like atmosphere in the style of old coffee houses, not without a small quote of the wood panelling of typical German country house architecture.
By changing colours, materials and motifs, the design concept allows for a high emotional recognition and an appearance that is specifically adapted to the respective collections and thus a sustainable use of the materials used.
